Why does waste water show in my shower when I flush the toilet ? There's a Saniflo system installed. ?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 11 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
The brand new en-suite shower room has a shower, washbasin and toilet fitted. The plumber did not seem confident about fitting a Saniflo unit and isn't taking phone calls now that there appears to be a problem. We daren't use anything in the room until we have figured out the problem. Has the plumber left out a non-return valve or something similar ?? Any suggestions please

Something was not properly installed. Hopefully, you hired a licensed Plumber to install the unit. If so, you can contact your local Permit office for advice. You can also go to the Saniflo website for help.

suggest you contact the Saniflo maker....

Hello, would you mind telling me the meaning of: washbasin and washbowl?

วันพุธที่ 10 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
Also, can you give me a couple of sentences please and how to use them in a sentence?

washbasin and washbowl are the same meaning ... they mean bathroom sink

I filled the washbasin with warm water and washed my hands.

In the general usage, a washbowl and washbasin are interchangeable terms. A basin and a bowl are also, in most cases, interchangeable terms. By, in most cases, I refer to the Rose Basin, just not as literal as the Rose Bowl. What about the Great Bowl, sounds more like a 300 game than an area of the country. A basin, when teamed with the word "wash" is usually fixed, while a basin is usually mobile, or, movable if you prefer.

Washbasin and washbowl are two ways of saying the same thing. It's a container for water so you can wash your hands or small items of clothing.

I always wash my hands in the washbasin before I eat.

I liv ein a bungalow and the water pressure is not adequate in the shower, kitchen or washbasin. How to improv

วันอังคารที่ 9 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
Would it be possible to install a shower pump for the whole house?

If you contact your local water company and ask them to check the mains pressure to your house. It is possible that the pipe run from the main to your house reduces the pressure, the supply company need to supply water of acquaint pressure to be use full.

As you home is a bungalow you will not have the same water head pressure that an normal two story home would have. It is possible to purchase a water boosting pump from your local plumbing centre that will boost the pressure for the whole house to a higher pressure.

turn your water pressure up , find your stop cock , then water pressure will greatly improve

Contact your Water Board and tell them, they should beable to help.

kitchen cold water supply should always be from the mains. the shower, depending what type it is, could be fed from the mains or a cold water storage tank. The washbasin may be fed from the mains, or cold water storage tank. Ascertain which area is fed by which type of supply. The kitchen tap is the first one to sort. Possibly the stopcock in the house is not open enough, try opening it further. If the bungalow is older it may have an iron underground supply pipe from the mains and they rust inwards and greatly reduce water flow.Replacement with plastic would be the only option there. If shower/washbasin are fed from a storage tank it will need to be raised to give a better/higher "head" ( = more pressure ) unless you find other causes such as pipe bores/fittings reduced severely by limescale build up.

Check your internal stop tap is working and is fully open (without using force) if it is, your next move is contacting your water board to ensure the external stop tap is also fully open... If that's O.K. and you happen to live in Coventry, email me...???

I too live in a bungalow and have two bathrooms the showers works perfectly, but my water tank is situated about four foot six inches higher than the shower in the loft, hope this is of use to you

Make sure that your main stop tap is fully open by turning it anticlockwise. If there is no improvement, then ask the water board to check the outside mains pressure (free service) it could be that there is an underground leak somewhere or the mains into your house is scaled up badly.

yes off of a tank fed system both hot & cold through one pump , bowster pump fitted them often in your situation . but you cant fit a pump on mains water thats your suppliers problem to provide adequate pressure

What are the UK laws about the number of toilets in schools?

วันจันทร์ที่ 8 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
In our school there are 15 toilets between 500 girls (students). 8 of these have recently been blocked off because of graffiti, so now there are just 7 toilets between the 500 girls in the school. The mirrors, washbasins and hygiene-products machine are also in the blocked off area. I'm sure there is a law about the minimum number of toilets in a school, and I need more information on this to present to the governers and staff. It is a public secondary school attended by both boys and girls, and the toilets are going to be blocked off until the teachers find out who graffitied the walls, which will probably be quite a while.

For now there are just 7 toilets, 8 washbasins and no mirrors or hygiene-product machines available to the 500 female students in the school.

My shower and washbasin are working well with ordinary water pressure but my bath taps just give out a trickle?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 4 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
Any ideas what could be going on? Someone suggested an airlock in the bath pipe. If this is the case, how can we fix it?

If both hot and cold tapes are only giving out a trickle then it is unlikely to be an air lock. If one is giving out a trickle then it is probably an air lock. I would first try connecting a lenght of hose between your cold water tap in you basin and the offending tap. Turn on both taps, turn off the one in the basin and then release the hose from the tap in the bath. This might cure the air lock. If not you may have to trace the pipe and identify a high point.

it could be anything...

although it is most probably an air lock or it could simply be a build up of limescale. if this is the case all you need to do is purchase a product that dissolves the scale blockage. i have done this countless times myself :)

another thing to try is let the taps run for around 15 minutes on full 'power' to see if the air buble can be pushed out!

if these don't prove successfull, call a plumber - they'll know what to do!

:D

i hope this helped

It is definitely not an air lock.

You said bath taps ,so I will guess that it involves bothe the hot and the cold water.

Now if you have a single control handle that controls both and also mixes them to control the temperature then the probblem is most likely in that control valve. We are talking about the bathtub are we not??

What boiler do you have. If it is a combi, then it is not an airlock. If you have a free standing boiler with a balanced flue then it is an airlock o the hot tap.alternately, look for any valaves that are not fully openOn the bath pipes. Follow them back as far as you can.

Can you check to see if the small filter in front of the bath tap is clogged? Some taps have a filter and if it is full, the pressure is greatly reduced. If there isn't a filter present, well then forget about this :-)

Something is blocking that pipe. If you don't have any experience with such things, call a plumber. You'll be glad to have a professional deal with it.

Your shower and hand basin taps are off the mains water supply the bath is indirect and fed from a water tank check the washers on your taps the jumper might be stuck

Could be limescale build up. Could be the lines to the taps are too small or kinked.

remove the spout there is a gauge inside of it fish that out .

Why do new bathroom accessories always have glass tumblers when these could damage a washbasin if dropped?

We've recently refurbished our bathroom and have been shopping for new accessories. Ignoring the cheap & nasty, all the manufacturers of good quality toothbrush/mug holders have heavy glass tumblers in them. If you happen to drop one of these into a ceramic washbasin because your hands are wet I would have thought it quite likely that damage would ensue to one or even both items.

Has anyone out there dropped one of these heavy glass tumblers into a washbasin? What happened?

With todays modern plastics you'd think they could provide high quality lightweight tumblers in their products.

Totally agree. It's the usual problem of designers without commonsense.

Its something I gave thought to a long time ago, I always get the high quality patio ware beakers for the bathroom, they bounce as acrylic

Yes the galss didn't break but the sink did

I've never known anyone to drop a tumbler into the sink so guess it's a pretty uncommon problem. Glass is just much nicer but guess it's not so practical for children or clumsy people

Ha. someone has rumbled the conspiracy to make you buy more bathroom sui...suites.. suita.. damn, whats the plural of suite.
